The Lupus Foundation of America is currently seeking a Director of Data, Analytics and Operations – Advancement Services to join our dynamic team of professionals in the heart of the national’s capital. The Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. is the only national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus – one of the world’s cruelest, most unpredictable, and devastating diseases – while giving caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact.

As the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) has recently undergone a comprehensive update to its database, fundraising and marketing platforms, we seek a leader to direct the LFA’s management of the Blackbaud Luminate Suite’s (LCRM, LO and TeamRaiser) on-going operations, which includes developing a thorough understanding of the new CRM technology capabilities and spearheading the use and adoption to drive the greatest ROI. This position will help advance the business intelligence of the organization by providing actionable reporting and analytics that capture activities and outcomes directed at prospects and donors at all levels across the organization. This role provides data and analytic insights to development, finance and marketing teams to drive the greatest financial outcome from the systems.

The Director of Data, Analytics and Operations is responsible for establishing business rules, maintaining documentation of data and reporting protocols, as well as assisting in the development and implementation of best practices for the management of LFA databases, including the assurance of database policies and procedures, data integrity, data extraction, report customization and analysis. This position maintains the overall integrity and quality of the constituent databases, including regular data hygiene, reinforcement of database business processes, business rules and other set-up functions of the databases in order to increase efficiency and enhance performance.  The Director will stay current on enhancements to functionality and will guide staff in the proper use of the existing functionality. Additionally, this position directs the relationship with Blackbaud’s support team, escalating issues that require immediate resolution and advocating for changes and fixes to the applications as needed.

A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred (or equivalent years of experience). Operational experience in a nonprofit environment. Five to seven years’ experience and a highly developed understanding of the principles of donor database & analytics management, business process workflow with strong preference in the development environment. Preference given to experience the Blackbaud Luminate platform. Three to five years’ experience with budgeting, managing and supervising professionals and leading teams to generate high quality results. Database design, deployment and management experience, with demonstrated experience designing, developing and generating analytic reports from a relational database application. Experience managing the implementation of a constituent relationship management system in a nonprofit environment. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including issue identification and prioritization. Advanced project-management, team-management and client-management skills. Ability to achieve results with limited supervision. Experience supervising professional staff as both direct and indirect reports, as well as successfully managing key internal and external stakeholders and relationships. Proven ability to collaborate across departments to implement processes and achieve results. Track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with multiple stakeholders. Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion. Proven ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices. Effective presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required in addition to the database and systems experience listed above. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Available for occasional weekend and evening work.
